Best case scenario – NOTHING happens when you use pirated copies. It happens, I have seen plenty of pirated copies and activation key generators that are completely untraceable in any way, and you use the program forever and ever and never worry about it.
Worst case scenario – you mess with the wrong program and it screws things up, or you get a copy that’s got a virus, or the pirated copy doesn’t work at all. Generally speaking, there are privacy laws and such that keep companies from finding you based on the programs you’re running. For example, many programs send their company usage statistics from the program. The information sent is not allowed to tell specifics about you, and the company cannot do anything more than deactivate your software. That’s even what MS does with their “authentication” process before you can download updates for Windows, and “activation” when you first install it. They won’t knock on your door and take you hostage, but they won’t let you use it.
WORST case scenario – you tell the wrong person or download software from the wrong place, and you DO get in trouble for it… not often from people around you but a little more often based on downloading from sharing software like Limewire and such.

Basically they’re same thing, just for pirated software since you never “pay” for the software or the serial number is already used somewhere so it will not be registered. For certain software, it may have no different, but for some, you may never get the new updates and if connects to internet, the server may automatically lock the software so it can’t be used anymore unless you key in the legitimate serial number

It is dangerous to have pirated software because:
A.) It can contain viruses.
B.) It is illegal
C.) You may have to register your product, which loggs your i.p. address.
I have pirated software on my computer, but also use Windows Vista, so it is pretty secure against viruses. Although it is illegal, they will only really go after somebody who has several copies of the product and who distributes this to make money. Finally a question I know about!

I use several applications that I did not obtain via monetary transaction with the legal provider… You get what I’m saying…
If you believe the ads on TV the difference between legal and pirated, is that with pirated, you are funding Terrorism. Honestly I don’t see how that works when you aren’t paying anyone for anything.
Anyhow, you probably won’t be able to access the updates for your program from the registered site without an authentic authorisation code.
Which you will not have.
Your authorisation code is randomly generated by a Keygen, so the program thinks it’s allowed to unlock.
Other than that, I couldn’t really tell you.
Except that you might get a dodgy version, depending on your source, and you’ve always got to be wary of downloading something hinky that might damage your computer if you do it online.
But barring those initial complications your pirated version should run like any true copy.

with pirated software, most of the time you cannot acces some features like support or advance features, that what you can do with the original software.
Nothing should happen, if you got the pirated software from a reliable source. If its not a reliable soucre watch out for viruses.

Your answer varies depending on your ISP (internet service provider). Rarely is anyone caught, and I can tell you from “experience” that most ISP’s are either nice enough to let you do whatever you want, too lazy to do anything about it, or don’t want to go through the trouble of putting you in jail, only to have it so that you are no longer a paying customer of theirs.
I’d say you’re fine pirating software, music, movies, or whatever else. Head over to bittorrent.com and download their program that handles downloads, then go to mininova.com, isohunt.com, or thepiratebay.org to download the files that will open up in bittorrent and download the files for you. Have fun.

Original Software is software that is Officially Sold By the author.
Pirated software are software that are copied multiple times and sold again. Which of course the author gets no cash which is illegal.

Nothing really, apart from the fact that it is highly illegal and if you are caught you will be taken to court and it could potentially carry a prison sentence.
