Can Non U.s Citizens Trade In U.s Stocks Markets Using Online Brokers Like Scottrade Or E-trade?
July 3rd, 2009 | by Frenday |I am from India living in the Caribbean, since US is closer to me, I would like to play stock trading using online brokers like Scottrade or Zecco. I am not sure if Non U.S citizen are allowed. I mean I don’t want companies to fool me and when I invest money, they tell me later on that you cannot withdraw your money out as non US citizens are not allowed to trade. So I just want to be sure.

Yes you can. You will be classified as a non resident alien since you are not a US citizen. You should be able to open an account online, deposit money to your account and you can trade. Use someone like Charles Schwab & Co., since they are large enough to allow you to do this. But first check the website to get all the details on the procedures.

You can invest in US companies even if your not a US citizen. Any major broker should permit you to do so.

We (Americans) will gladly welcome your money. Non-US citizens are allowed to buy and sell stocks in the US. We only care a little who owns what as long as you pay for what you own…..
