It’s called How to Secure Your PC for Free.
It contains links to everything you need to secure your PC.

I would recommend AVG antivirus with a combination of Spybot -Search&Destroy and WinPatrol. These are all freewares and lite on your system thereby taking up less of your system resources unlike norton and mcafee. More over these are effective than others considering that they are freewares.
Winpatrol provides you complete control over your system by alerting any hidden changes made to your system and spybot protects your system against any threats like spywares, adwares, trojans and threats in installed softwares.

It might be wise to check to see what your internet service provider has to offer. It might not be free, but will run from $4.95 to $6.95 per month with all the new viruses id-ed,
and have a removal for them, and a spyware tool as well.

FREEBIES:
For anti-virus the best is “AVG Free”, hands down.http://free.grisoft.com
For anti-spware, anti-”scumware” and assorted nasty bugs, one – or even better, all – of these should keep your PC clean.
“Spybot Search and Destroy”http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl…
“Adaware”http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_a…
And last, but not least, “Bazooka” – it doesn’t clean the bugs, but it does a quick detection to let you know if something’s “hitching a ride” on your PC and tell you where you can find info to remove the bug.
“Bazooka”http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner
There are other good ones, but that would be overkill. These should do you just fine and handle most everything you’ll run into. Just update them regularly and run a simple scan every now and then. (Weekly, more often if something seems “funny”)
Best wishes!

AVG is good protection for your computer and Reg Clean,Spy Bot and Ad Ware are compatiable with your system. Down load all of these. When things are free they don’t give you all the services but combined you will have better protection. So make sure you load all of them and check it out for yourself. I use all of these and I have XP.http://www.free-download-place.com/AVG/i…http://www.lavasoft.com/http://www.regclean.com/?hop=omtophttp://www.spybotlive.com/?tid=100532
