September 16th, 2009 | by Frenday |I have McAfee Total Protection right now and I want to install another one like AVG Antivirus Free Edition or any other security softwares.
Does running two antivirus softwares at the same time as it may conflicts or not? What do you think?

You can’t have two anti-virus programs running at the same time. They will conflict and lock up your PC big time and then you’ll have more trouble than you bargained for.

No offense, but I am not about to pretend to be a tech guru. However, common sense tells me that having an anti-virus active, and then scanning when updated and offline with another might help. I wonder if the warnings about conflicting software may be a half-truth, or even a party line. So to speak. I have a variety of applications. Like others, I read about reputable firewall and anti-virus programs that warn about conflicting with each other, and yet they seem to want to work with each other despite a proclivity to be proprietary. I do believe one thing. None of these programs and applications can cover one hundred percent of everything.

Yes, running 2 anti-viruses causes a lot of conflictions with each other. The moto is, “To catch a virus you must act like a virus” and each anti-virus has it’s own methods of scanning that may spike your AV’s radar as a false positive. Just a no-no thing to do.
There are tons of possibilities… McAfee… is way better then AVG. If someone told you to put AVG on there, then they are an idiot because AVG only performs scans, they do not silently monitor active code.
Andre’ was on the ball till he said Avast.

That will give you more problems than getting a virus. Each one will try to outdo the other. You will experience double slowdown in your system. Just use one. To help you make a better choice take a look at these:

Running more than one anti-virus program at a time, can lead to problems. I suggest you only run one, or none at all, if you’re very knowledgeable when it comes to computers, such as myself.
To go into more detail, I suggest Avast! over McAfee, and AVG.

You have two untrained pitbulls… throw a slab of meat right between them… thats how well the 2 anti-viruses will get along. Just crank the real time scanner to high if u feel the need to be over protected.
