How Much Money Should I Bring To New York City?
September 26th, 2009 | by Frenday |I live in Ontario and I am going on a school trip to NYC at the start of May. Transportation, hotel and breakfast are all already paid for, but I need to bring money for lunch and dinner for three days and spending money. I am a sixteen year old female, how much money do you think I should bring?
Thank you!

New York is a little bit more expensive than Toronto. It really depends where you will go and what you want to do. You can have lots of fun in NYC with 20 dollars, and have a horrible day after wasting 1,000 dollars. This is because you should spend your money wisely. Don’t just buy anything that comes to your eye, but rather things that are unique. I suggest you visit one of the zoos – my pick would be the Bronx Zoo. I suggest you visit the Statue of Liberty. Also, you can take a free ride of the SI ferry for free! The subway system isn’t all that great, a little less cleaner than most systems in North America, but it has a lot of trains. If you do take the subway, try avoiding rush hours as the cars are packed. Public buses on the other hand are cleaner and you get great views. Both are $2 for a ride, but you can get unlimited for 24 house for about…I think it’s 8 something now…last time I bought one of those they were $7. It’s great because you can use it how many times you want, everywhere, both subway & bus.

Somewhere in the neighborhood of $250 to $500 USD will do. Just spend it wisely.
Good luck
