In my opinion all the big antivirus software companies are over rated. I have used Avast Antivirus Home Edition for years now and have had minimal damage to my computer. If you keep Avast on ‘High’ protection you can filter out all the trojans, virus and spyware that gets downloaded while you’re on the internet or while transferring files from other peoples pen drives/USB keys.
Try it for yourself. Its free at http://www.avast.com

Thumbs up for Avira as a free antivirus. It constantly reaches highest scores at AV comparatives – a most trusted source of AV tests.
As to Norton and McAfee as popular antivirus suites, they have their weak points, mostly in terms of detecting trojans and worms. My experience shows that McAfee VirusScan missed Vundo Trojan – highly dangerous malware.
Among paid AV’s I’d mention Kaspersky and Bit Defender. Both have neat interfaces and robust scanning engines, being low on system resources (which is very important because we speak about on-going protection, not on-demand scans). Anti-phishing, parental controls, antispam added as long as all common features.

Well if it’s a free one you want then get AVG, but if you are looking for a paying one then i would say get bull guardd as it’s a great internet security programme because the main thing you should remember is that Mcafee and Norton etc you are paying mostly for the name and not for the quality

Avg by far, they are constantly updating, and it doesnt slow your computer down. McAfee ha lots of bloatware with it, so if you want omething thats reliable and doesnt take up unnecessary space on your computer/ laptop, look no further.

Kaspersky is the best but you do have to pay. If you want free then I suggest your try Avira Personal edition. I have it and works fine for me.

There are 2 really good ones that are free. AVG and Avast
I would not use Norton’s Antivirus or MacAfee unless you have some kind of super computer, they slow your PC down a lot.
