What Is The Legal Age To Sell Software Online?

November 2nd, 2009 | by Frenday |

I live in colorado and was wondering what the legal age to sell software, such as custom made screensavers, is in this state. I would like to know an answer soon. Thanks for the help.

Really, I don’t think there is a specific one about software, but note that if you’re under eighteen you cannot make or enter contracts with other individuals. Thus, basically you can’t sell ANYTHING, but this contrct clause doesn’t really get enforced or I’m brazenly misunderstanding it. I mean, you can’t make a contract, but you can still form a contract to sell your bike, and call the police if payment isn’t rendered in accordance with the prior agreement. Ugh… basically, sell as you wish, but you’ll need to use a parent or other person over eighteen if you want your EULA to have any legal force behind it. In fact, put the firm in your dad or mum’s name.
Also, while opyrights are automatic since ‘76, you should still assertively pick a copyright mark and attach it to your product/documentation in some way.
