November 4th, 2009 | by Frenday |

I am head over my household, working full-time, and I’m a student semi full-time. I have no kids and is single, I really don’t want to owe the government money, what can I do to get back all of my money the fast way?

Head of household, as the way you file, is for people with dependents, Some of the student monies you have put out may fall under the HOPE education tax credit. After getting your W-2s and a form from your school on your tuition, file your taxes electronically and with direct deposit and hope for the best.

Do an efile with direct deposit into your bank account.
Sounds like your filing status is Single, and there aren’t a whole lot of subtractions for you, except 401ks and IRAs and student status may interfere with that.

The only way you’ll get back all of your taxes is if you have $0 tax liability. Without knowing how much you earned and how much tax was withheld it’s not possible to say what you’ll get back or even if you’ll get anything at all.
You are not Head of Household if you live on your own and have no dependent children. Your filing status is Single.

If you are getting a big refund, submit a new W4 to reduce your witholding. That way, you keep more of your pay now, rather than waiting to get it back in Feb 2009.
