What Are Ways You Can Save Money On Gasoline?
November 8th, 2009 | by Frenday |Right now, gasoline prices are on the rise througout the United States with not end in sight of prices going down. In some parts of the country, gasolline is over $4.00 and where I reside, the average gas price is $3.25 in Georgia.
What is advice you would give to other motorist on ways they can save money at the gasoline pump in the upcoming months?

Car pool. Plan trips to include all errands in one run. Drive 55. Leave a stopped position slowly, not abruptly. Keep your tires aired properly.

$4 per gallon… lucky… it’s about $2 per quart here…
I advise to use public transportation (if available), or walk if the distance isn’t so far…

Absolutely, car pool or use mass transit when and if possible, go easy on the gas pedal, getting there faster doesn’t help the mpg. Keep you tank topped off, the less air in the tank the less evaporation of fuel there is (however if your emissions system is working properly this shouldn’t be much of an issue). Keep up on routine maintenance, a properly maintained car gets better mpg. Buy smart if looking for a new vehicle, don’t opt for the large suv, get something better on gas, only as big as you need, not as you like. If what you are looking for comes with an available standard shift transmission opt for that, a manual transmission can save some mpg. Make one trip per day, to work, if you need anything get it before you go home so as not to be making a second trip out, and if you are not sure if you need anything, make a phone call it’s cheaper (of course as long as you are not driving)(sorry, pet peeve). If you drive a pickup (and I know some people find this hard to believe) keep your tailgate UP. lowering the tailgate or taking it off to put on a net, does nothing to help mpg, it is better on gas with it up. (Myth busters proved it!) Use common sense while driving, if you aren’t going fast enough for someone, hey, let them pass they have the right, maintaining a steady speed helps mpg.

I like the car pool. Another way, use a bike or walk for short trips when the weather is good.

Drive the speed limit. Going 65 instead of 80 on the highway will make a huge difference.
