What Are Some Ideas For Fundraisers To Get Money For A High School Student Council?

November 9th, 2009 | by Frenday |

My high school is brand new, so the student council has no money. We are in a neighborhood with a lot of other high schools, so all of the local businesses are taken. We despreratly need ideas on how to raise money

Hi. Have you ever thought of a fundraiser with eco-friendly candles?
I’m an independent distributor for a company that makes a cleaner burning, all-natural (100% biodegradable), truer scented candle. We offer a very generous fundraising program. For every jar sold, the group makes $5. So if you had 10 people who each sold 25 candles, your group’s profit $1,250. There is no cost to the group. I provide all the materials.
Candles that contain a petroleum based paraffin leave black soot on the jars and house walls. I believe we also breath this into our lungs. The candles I sell do not produce that black because of the all-natural ingredients.
On average about 85% of all families buy candles at least once a year, and candle fundraising programs have been as successful, if not more so, than most the products (gift wrap, chocolates, magazines, etc..) sold today. The jars burn for approximately 90 – 100 hours so they are a good value for the money.
Please visit my website for more information or to request a free fundraising packet. You can find my contact information there as well.
Whatever you decide to use as your fundraiser, if you and your group put forth the effort you should be successful.
    Best Wishes.
PS. Location is not an issue either. I am currently helping a church in Mississippi raise money, and I live in Vermont! :)

Go around and ask friends and family to pledge you and classmates to wash cars. For example: I agree to pay you $3.00 for every car you wash. Then you advertise a FREE car wash to the public. You keep track of each car and have the driver sign something saying that you washed it. When the car wash is done you and your classmates go back to all the people who pledged money and then you collect. The pledgers love that they don’t have to buy more useless crap from you, you and your classmates get a workout and the public gets a clean car.
It’s similar to the pledges people collect for walk-a-thon’s etc.
OR: if any of your classmates can drive then print out brochures to deliver groceries, run errands, drop off dry cleaning, etc. Dog walking is pretty popular too.
OR: If you have a river near your area then go online and find CHEAP rubber duckies. Get about 100 or so. Number the ducks. Then go around town and have people sponsor a duck of their choice (keep track of which number duck they choose) for $5…3 for $10. At one part of the river release the ducks. Someone down river collects the 1st 3 ducks over the finish line and then the winners collect their prizes (which were donated by the community).
Also try http://www.ptotoday.com … they have LOTS of stories from people who have tried things that work really well.
    Good luck!!!

I know it sounds stupid…..but hat days are good. have people bring in 1 dollar to wear a hat. :) It’s simple, and We get at least 25 dollars every Friday because of hat days. Good luck. ;)

Sell girl kisses (smooch) for a dollar… Ugly ones: .50 cents. Go to an old people holding station (aka: Convalescent Home) and charge $10.00—no wet ones.

Hold a car wash, a caravel, a bake sale? We used to have a Slave Day where friends, family and neighbors could pay so much to have a group of us, or individuals do odd jobs for them, or the elderly(cleaning garages, attics, basements, washing windows, helping with housework, baby sitting, jobs people normally don’t like to do themselves). Sell candy, magazines, whatever.
