I would go for norton 360 or norton anti-virus. They are both good but 360 protects you from everything with the anti-virus just viruses and simple forms of spyware. I’ve put a ranking table of all the one’s i know off:
1) Norton 360
2) norton anti – virus 2007
3) Avg antivirus ( FREE!)
4) McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007
5) Pand internet security 2007 (available at windows markerplace)
6) Trend Micro TrendProtect

Here a comparison page that you can use to guide you to whats good and whats bad. I assume that getting a combo is the best. It shows you what features to look for when choosing. Hope this helpshttp://www.delete-computer-history.com/b…

Hey! there’s no such thing as unrivaled best. And it’s impossible to do a fair ranking from best to worst since I haven’t used all of them. But I can tell you what worked best for me.
No matter which Antivirus you have, make sure to get the virus definition files as soon as they’re out! Many people forget to do this and end up blaming the Antivirus for any mishaps. But Antivirus is only as good as it’s definitions! My personal choice is Norton, it has been protecting me for many years.
There are many Antispyware but I prefer to use the combination of Zone Alarm (free version) + Firefox Browser + common sense! That keeps me safe.
