its seems that you are using an older version of mcafee which is not compatible with vista, thats why getting this message.. i suggest you either contact mcafee support and get yourself a vista compatible version or you can switch to any other antivirus… i recommend bitdefender total security which has been ranked number 1 in top 10 anti viruses review three years in a row… its fast and very good one..
if you wish you can give it a shot…. also google “top 10 anti virus”, you will find bitdefender on top… this was my two cents worth suggestion.

there is only one sure way move off windows, period. There are lots of free operating systems out there that are virus free, why should you buy anti virus software that can’t guarantee you don’t get viruses they only help to stop known viruses not the new 1000’s plus viruses that are released every week. Even windows 7 is not secure against Malware
this is a report that came out this week click on the link below and read the report http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=4825&…
no one is safe using windows you need to be looking at the new free operating systems from Google Linux or Intel if you want security these are
Moblin works great on desktops too click on the link below http://moblin.org/downloads/

Contacting McAfee like the other guy said is probably the best course of action.
I got rid of McAfee because it was taking too much of the system resources and now I’m using Avast! free home edition. It’s worked great for me.

Call Mcafee and have them remote to your machine and install it for you.
