There are no MacOs X viruses. That is why most Mac users do not use an anti-virus program. The last Mac virus was 3 years ago and a whole 49 Macs got it world-wide. Anyone who tells you that there are current released MacOs X viruses does not know what they are talking about. The anti-virus listed above is a valid one, it works quickly because there aren’t any to find and only works on Leopard. There is another free one called ClamXav, it takes awhile to run because it also searches for the 1,000,000 Windows viruses out there. The main reason Mac users use an anti-virus is so they don’t accidentally email or send a Windows virus to a Windows user. You can’t catch anything on a Mac by opening an email or visiting a website. The 7 known Mac trojans all require you to download them, install them and activate them with your admin password. There is a fake Mac anti-virus, a fake Mac Malware remover, a fake Mac poker game, a fake Mac porn viewer, and a fake Mac HD video player. The other 2 trojans are in illegal downloads via torrents of iWorks 09 and Photoshop CS 4. So if you don’t get tricked, if you don’t download illegal software, you have nothing to worry about. Just take the time to be smart and you won’t have to slow your Mac down with software of little use.

I learned the hard way to not trust any of the free antivirus programs, they usually turn out to be malware and do more harm than not having protection to start with, take my advice and buy the good stuff from one of the big companies, Norton, McAffee etc…
