Wow – that’s a lot of security software and if you are experiencing slow browsing on the internet, you should consider getting rid of some of these tools. I’m assuming they are all free because the pro versions have real time protection; if you run Avast with the pro versions of superantispyware, spyware doctor or malwarebytes, you may get a lot of conflicts.
On all Pcs I use Avast (or Avira Antivir) – this is my main security tool – I use it with Spywareblaster (not a scanner but acts silently in the background) and Spybot search & destroy (without Tea Timer activated as this will slow your pc down considerably; avast alone provides sufficient protection). With both Spywareblaster and Spybot, I update and immunize against possible online infections.
I run Ccleaner regularly – make sure your browser is closed. Definitely keep. Also if you run it before scanning with your security tools, you should speed up your scans.
I scan with malwarebytes and/or superantispyware occasionally. Worth keeping
I never use Adaware (pointless in my opinion) – and if you are using the free version of spyware doctor, it has resident protection – I occasionally install it on pcs to scan them but I never use the intelliguard features nor do I immunize – too much of a system hog. You can disable spyware doctor’s real time monitoring and just run it when you need it. If you can live without spyware doctor, you can get rid of it – it is a good scanner but I think it slows your system down.
I HATE toolbars – I use no toolbars – ask toolbar is usually installed with “free” software – you can get rid of it. I hate, absolutely detest Yahoo toolbar and in my experience yahoo’s security tools are a waste of time – Google toolbar is ok but quite frankly most browsers have their own search bar on the upper right. I just add Google and make it my default search in firefox and IE so I need no toolbars….
Mcafee site advisor is useful in preventing phishing or scams.
It’s a wonder you can get online at all!

I have used Zone Alarm Firewall, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just changed to Avast antivirus and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

I use panda anti virus pro 2007 version.
But for installs on other peoples PCs I use:-
Free version of AVG for anti virus.
Spy-bot search and destroy.
Ccleaner for registry cleaning and file deletion.
With these installed I have not had any of my friends PCs get a virus.
You should not have too many anti virus programs running at the same time.
You can cause conflicts which allow viri to creep through, and too many running at the same time will slow your system down.

Dear J,
I don’t think free software can handle and solve your problem well. it is because normally free software not consists all the module to protect your computer.
just now, I have seen an article written by expert in spyware to remember us what possible happened if we use freeware in our PC.
For more details you can go direct to this web http://drspywarereview.com/blog/?p=45
Personally I have used Spyware Remover for a year ago to handle my computer from attacking by any spyware.
Cheer,
Aziml

My dad owns his own company, and his company has PC advisers, and he got them to install Sophos onto my computer.
I’m no pro when it comes to this, but, having that many programs on your PC can’t be good! I’ve also heard a lot of good things about malwarebytes, so that is a good option.
