The software needs to be real and not fake. It does not need to present virus that are not true.

I won’t lie to you, the BEST, STRONGEST, CHEAPEST antivirus isn’t from any of the answers above. It is Bitdefender. It prevents execution of viruses. It also protects against Conflicker. If you don’t believe me, see these websites:http://anti-virus-software-review.topten…http://anti-virus-software-review.topten…http://www.pcworld.com/article/124475/to…
Other top antiviruses are: Norton, Kaspersky, AVG, F-Secure, and McAfee.
    Hope I helped…

Why doesnt any understand the value of paying for virus software. It costs 30 dollars. The thing no one seems to understand is; you will never recover that 30 dollars, but you WILL PAY if you dont spend it. I am a Network Engineer, as I am answering this I am on the phone with someone who contracted a virus. We charge 125 dollars per hour and right now We are at 1:46 minutes and not done yet. FOR GOD SAKE JUST GO BUY NORTON

AVG 8.0 is the most up to date and least system intensive Anti-Virus out there. If you don’t want all of the “junk” that comes with others AVG is the way to go. Its simplistic and works extremely well.

My choice is Avast 4.8 home edition. It’s an antivirus/antispyware/antirootkit security program. It automatically gives you an update every 4 hrs. It also has a boot scan option and it doesn’t slow down your computer.

3 things I put in computers. AVG,Malwarebytes and Spybot search and destroy. Between them they can protect you from the nasties out there. You can find them at http://www.download.com.

I think AVG is the best free antivirus program. It is constantly updated and keeps you safe. I used it for quite a long time when I had switched computers and couldn’t afford a new Norton’s package.
